Wofo ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it.
Account information
To create an account and sign in, we ask for a username and password of your choosing. These credentials are stored in our database and used only to verify your identity when you sign in to Wofo. We do not sell or share your account credentials with third parties.
Permissions and access
Network / internet access
Wofo requires internet access to:
- Load remote content
- Connect to Firebase services
- Send and receive push notifications
- Perform API requests
This is why the app uses the Android INTERNET permission.
Notifications
Wofo may request permission to send push notifications. Notifications are used for important updates, announcements, and app-related alerts. On Android, this is implemented with POST_NOTIFICATIONS. On iOS, notification permission is requested at runtime via Firebase Messaging.
Data we collect
Notification tokens
To support push notifications, the app may collect a device notification token from Firebase Messaging. This token is used only to deliver notifications to your device and is not used to track you across other apps.
Local storage
The app stores data locally on your device (using Hive) for app settings, saved content and caching. This data stays on your device unless you choose to share it.
Third-party services
We use the following third-party services:
- Firebase (Firebase Core, Firebase Messaging)
- Flutter Local Notifications
- HTTP-based services for network communication

Content & AI assistance
Word definitions, example sentences and facts in Wofo are curated with the help of AI tools and may occasionally contain an error. If you spot something that looks wrong, please let us know using the Feedback option in the app — we review and improve the content over time.

No unnecessary permissions
We only request the permissions needed for the app's core features. If you disable notifications, the app will continue to function normally without receiving push notifications.
Data retention & security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to help protect the information stored in our database, and we keep it only for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide the app's features. That said, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's privacy
Wofo is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to remove it.
